However, sometimes the players are looking at the cards, and it is easier to tell who has the better hand. The five-card draw is often the hardest situation to figure out, because in the five-card draw, you are dealing with both players drawing from the same starting hand. A five-card draw will always have a straight flush and a wild card somewhere in the middle of the cards.
The reason for this is because the cards are valued higher depending on the highest value card wins. For example, if you have an Ace and a King, and you bet the maximum amount of money you can, the cards are valued higher than the highest value card wins. Therefore, betting the maximum amount of money can usually pay off if you win the pot. On the other hand, betting the smallest amount of money can sometimes pay off if you match the highest value card wins.
Pot odds are used to determine what the best hand will be. Pot odds are denoted by the percentage of hands that win the pot (the pot-limit) over the total hands in the game. The lower the pot odds the better, since you are more likely to win. However, some hands are better than others, depending on the players.
