Poker is any of a great number of card games where players wager over whether the hand they have raised on is worth the bet made by the other person. A simple game, Poker is a favorite with many people of all ages. While it has become a widely accepted sport, there are a few variations of Poker that differ from the traditional version. The different versions of Poker include Caribbean Poker, Five Card Stud Hi/Lo, Five Card Stud, Texas Holdem, Seven Card Stud and more.
Caribbean Poker is one such variation where all the players are dealt straight (with no middle pair). The player who has raised the most chips wins the pot. Caribbean Poker works with nine or ten cards including the King, Queen and Jack. In a Caribbean Poker game, all the cards are turned over and dealt from the flop. After the first twelve turn, betting starts as usual, but all the cards are turned over face down.
A five-card stud game is a variant where the players are dealt a five-card deck and are not allowed to call, raise or fold. Instead, the player with the most chips at the end of the twelve turns may call, raise or fold. The player must have at least four of the five cards in order to call, raise or fold. Once the last card is turned over, the game is over and the player has been defeated.
On the second round of betting, the players are dealt another five cards and are turned over again. On this round, the players must call, raise or fold. The two players with the most chips at the end of the round are the only ones who can call. Once the final card is turned over, the game is over. There is no more action allowed on the flop.
The third and final round of betting occurs during the turn when the players with the highest chips are turned over. When the last card is turned over, the last person standing is the winner. When a player wins a pot, the person with the most chips wins. If a player bets out of turn, they are eliminated from the tournament and their chips are transferred to the finalist.
The winning hand depends on the cards that are dealt. If there are extra cards dealt before a hand, these will count. It does not matter if the cards are dealt five cards or three, the highest card will always be a five-card hand. In poker, if a player has an Ace, Queen, King or Jack it means that this hand contains three of the five regular cards. Flop betting is based on statistics and probability and therefore is dependent on how lucky the players are. The probability of winning a pot on the flop is approximately two percent.
